Oh My God!!!, must be most used exclamation around Times Square, New York. One who lands there by planning or by chance is struck by the energy of the place. Located at the junction of Broadway and 42nd street and renamed from Longacare Square to Times Square after the shifting of New York Times newspaper building in 1904, it is called as the ‘center of the universe’ as it gets almost 50 million tourists every year, including a million on New Year Eve (Interestingly, New York Times has shifted from here now). I have grown up listening to the stories and images of the Times Square. So when I was finally there last month, I was awestruck and speechless at first.
The sight of times square is simply amazing and unforgettable. You get dumbstruck actually and you freeze. The energy generated there by millions of LED lights and huge billboards on one hand and aspirants of American dreams on other is unmissable. It is too deep and unfathomable at the same. It is infectious and sooner than later hijacks your imagination. You can not, but be bowled over by the sheer energy level at this heart of America. Everything you can dream of, is there. The news studios, stars and celebrities, full of energy youths showing all sorts of dance moves, girls painted in body colors showing N Y at right places, Naked Cowboys, Broadway shows, biggest T V Screen in the world, Obama’s favorite Junior’s cheesecake, the NYPD booths and an army recruitment booths as well, huge billboards blinding night with sparkling neon, ads featuring our own meditation and Yoga Gurus on the site of pinnacle consumerism and last but not the least, awestruck visitors like me. It is a place you can never shake off from your memory. I am still dazed. So, have a look at pictures below as words can not explain enough.
